The HIRO ride started out in 2012, when a group of individuals (who remain on the committee) were looking for a way to spend their work charity days.
Keen cyclists, they came up with the HIRO 4 Hope ride (Hope Indochina Ride Organisation) with a view to raising enough money to buy a much needed rainwater tanks. They raised enough to purchase SIX! In Year 2 Hope needed a school bus – they raised enough to buy THREE!
From 6 riders in Year 1 the ride has grown to nearly 70 in 2020.
The ride has since raised over US$1 million and supports multiple parts of the development. The Hope Foundation directly credits the funds raised by the ride with enabling them to continue services during the COVID-19 crisis.
