2024 Ride

what it's all about?

The HIRO ride started out in 2012, when a group of professionals based in Singapore were looking for a meaningful way to spend their work charity / CSR days.  Some started by building houses, others started by contributing time to renovate the buildings directly.   This team as very keen cyclists, came up with the HIRO 4 Hope ride (Hope Indochina Ride Organisation) with a view to raising enough money to buy a much needed rainwater tanks, farming, food, renovation money and importantly the basis for higher education for the underprivileged in Cambodia. The first year the team rode they raised enough to purchase SIX water tanks! In Year 2 Hope needed a school bus – they raised enough to buy THREE!

From 6 riders in Year 1 the ride to the peak of 70 riders in 2020 in several countries.  However during COVID and after, the ride has gone through its challenges over the years in 2023 the ride was back down to 7 riders, however even with only a few riders the team were determined to complete the ride.  We certainly hope in 2024 we can boost the number of riders well past 20 again and encourage more corporate sponsor’s to take part in this community initiative!

Part of the challenge has been securing both riders, support staff in the respective countries where the ride takes place and of course private and corporate sponsors.  However in 2024 and with kind support from YOU we hope to change that and make this the best adventure to date with a ride that WILL be challenging starting in BKK Thailand and finishing at the School in Cambodia.

The ride has since raised over US$1.7 million and supports multiple parts of the development. The Hope Foundation directly credits the funds raised by the ride with enabling them to continue services during the COVID-19 crisis.
